A strong smell of cinnamon wafts from Tamanyi's quarters and hibiscus petals lay scattered on the doorstep. She whips of batches of fresh ginger to take to Apium for stomach soothers, and combines Roux's coffee grounds with a bit of pepper and salt to create some of the finest meat rubs one would ever taste out of Bourdain's cookery. But herbs and seasonings had to be used only when fresh for she insisted that the quality drastically decreased over time. She would harvest in small batches meant for immediate use, and so she was away from the clan quite frequently in search of new crop.

Or so they thought.

Spices were a front for something much, much darker going on in the shadows when no one was looking.
