As a young hatchling Beiralt was given up by his birth clan to a small nature clan called the Clan of Falling Leaves. Its matriarch, the Fae healer Photra, adopted him as her own son and loved him dearly. He flourished under her care and developed a passion for jewel-crafting. He even fell in love with a Coatl alchemist, Garjia.

Unfortunately, it didn't last forever. One night a sickly sweet miasma drifted through their lair in the Gladeveins. While Beiralt awoke, many of his clanmates didn't. Tragically both Photra and Garjia succumbed to the eternal sleep.

He was desperate to find a cure. He even tried to appeal to the Gladekeeper herself, but she had no answers. He and his remaining clanmates began to hear the song. At first he tried to resist, tried to stay true to his purpose, but resisting The Root is always a vain effort.

Roseaith reminds him a little of his mother, he hopes he can help guide the young Fae down the right path. He's very close to his nephew, Merrill.
