Simon is an interesting case. More of a strange dark gel, a powered dive suit, and some electronics slapped on for good measure than a dragon, he insists he isn’t from Sornieth, but instead from the same planet as Jacob. The claims seem fairly valid to those who hear them, considering he doesn't look anything like a mechanical construct made on Sornieth, not to mention the general form of his construct looking very close to that of a person. He also has the same coping delusion as Jacob- he sees everyone as people, not as dragons. And like Jacob, he’s been bestowed a glamour that portrays him as a dragon, one that can only be seen through by deities and by those that know of humans on Earth.
He came to the Den through Nautica, who found him during one of her dives in the Sea of Thousand Currents. She thought he was dead, as she found his still form on the ocean floor, but once she had pulled him out and brought him back, he woke up and began to freak out. He talks about AI, and humans, and something called the ARK, but no one really listens except the AI and Jacob. (This is either because he’s been told to keep his mouth shut around anybody else or because they feel a connection to the displaced robot.) Simon spends most of his time wandering the Den, in the engineering hall, or at the side of the AI and Jacob. He stays away from most of the other dragons, especially those of the Lightning flight (he claims they cause his vision to distort). The robot is often confused and asks a lot of questions. He also tends to get pushed into existential crises easily, questioning...well, everything really. He seems to really miss his planet, and often spends hours talking with Jacob about it. Despite his penchant for getting overwhelmed and panicking, Simon’s also cautiously curious and dedicated to what he does. |
