Max

Owner of the tavern and shop Max’s Patch, Max himself is a joyous dragon that makes him a ray of sunshine in the darkness of the Tangled Woods. He is never seen without his trusty hat, a memento from his days back in Plague lands when he swiped it off a passing dragon. His shop has everything anyone would ever want: food, drinks, camping supplies, weapons, and the curious items here and there. One does not survive on jokes and smiles alone under Ten’s judgement. Max possesses a useful skill that any Shadow dragon would appreciate. From time to time, dragons would find themselves missing objects from their rooms or secure bags. Most would say that they had misplaced them and go searching for it; dragons who know Max go straight to him to ask for their stolen possessions back. At first, he would joke around and say that he hasn’t seen it around. It’s not his stuff, so why would he know where it would be? But dragons within Fallen Creek know better and push him to return their possessions. After more hassling, Max relents and returns the stolen object back to their owner without a fuss.

“Try to keep it more secure,” he would say cheerfully. “Or you might not see it the next time you come for it.”

When Max is not running his shop, he is off doing something else that might involve more stealing. This makes his shop very vulnerable to all kinds of robberies and break-ins. Thankfully, Max has a back-up plan for when he isn’t around. His centaur companion, Ironhoof, keeps watch over the shop when Max is not around. He is an intimidating figure, even when compared to dragons. He stands as tall as a Tundra, wielding an axe and a sword like they were his own limbs. Ironhoof tolerates no intruders and deals with thieves swiftly and viciously. Only a fool would so brazenly try to steal when he is around. When thieves aren’t trying steal from the shop, he also keeps peace in the tavern part of the building and breaks up fights between drunken dragons with many exasperated sighs.

The two of them together run Max’s Patch as smoothly as one can be, bringing joy and treasure to a clan who only wishes to survive. Just try to keep your personal treasures secure, for they have a ‘habit’ of disappearing around these parts.
