Biography
You said everyone deserves a will to live. So why not me? I was also trying my best just to survive, so why am I the only one that was labeled as a villain? Why do I not deserve a second chance like all the rest?
-The type to respond to every traumatizing thing that happens to him with a "it is what it is" but dear god there's only so many of those left in him and hes hanging by a literal thread.
-Is the biological son of Mordeimos, though he was never allowed to call him father. Was raised to be another one of Mordeimos' pawns in his revenge, and the only one who was unforgiven after Mordeimos' "death". Despite the fact that he never wanted to do anything his father made him do, and despite the fact that he was arguably the General who did the least amount of damage; him being Mordeimos' son made him untrustable by the main cast. The other Generals ended up being "redeemed", but Aster was never given the chance.
-Got his hands on a Cradle of Ruin, and used it to put his entire town in a magical coma; which probably wasn't the best thing he could have done. In fairness to him, it was a gut reaction to being killed.
-The only other person who got their hands on a Cradle of Ruin became an entire living, suffering city.
-Only way to end the dream is to convince Aster to wake up, but he's unwilling to because if he does...he'll cease to exist.
-Becoming more and more muddled the longer the Dream exists for. He seems confused, and not fully aware of anything. Spends most of his time in the dream reliving old memories and begging for someone to save him.
-Blue butterflies seem to plague his dream, though no one is sure of why. As time goes on, more and more have been appearing.
-His dreamscape is made up of his memories, but thrown together in a confused way. In other words; even if you recognize a place, it most likely won't be the same as whatever memory you might have because it's been remixed with some other location from his memories in a confusing mess.
-The comatose bodies of the villagers seem to be frozen in time in the real world. They don't even seem to breath, but feel warm to the touch. People have chosen to not move the bodies for the time being until everything can be fixed. Aster's body has disappeared, with the dried blood the only physical evidence he ever existed.
-Was never the most confident, mostly because his father raised him to be a pawn rather than a leader so he was never really allowed to think for himself. His father; paranoid as he was, was also afraid of Aster starting a coupe or betraying him in some other way so he would punish him for any sign of "betrayal". So Aster buried all his thoughts to survive.
-Thinks he remembers a time when his father was kind to him. But it could also just have been a dream.
-Both emotionally and socially awkward because of his past. He's not good at explaining himself, and panics when he does something that his father wouldn't accept; even after Mordeimos' death. He was a lot kinder to the prisoners, but in an awkward way where he'd pretend not to see contraband or slip something in anonymously to make their lives easier. He wasn't willing to go as far as letting them leave, but he tried not to punish them and make sure they were well-taken care of.
-His mother was the one who named him after a flower. His father doesn't call him by his name, and the others make fun of how girly it sounds so he started calling himself Aster instead of the full name. Still, it's one of his favorite flowers now as well. When he was young, he once found a collection of dried asteria flowers in his father's study, and it made him feel closer to him. Eventually, he found them in the trash.
In the somewhat fluffier modern AU fic he isn't show much but some important notes:
-Used to bully Alec all the way from middle school to high school. Not because he didn't like Alec or anything, but because his father didn't like Alec's parents and he wanted his father to like him + he was insecure, and needed someone to feel better than. Matured in college after meeting some people and being taken down a few pegs, and eventually cuts himself off from his father after many years of coming to terms with the fact that their relationship will never be better and his father will never respect or love him. Still got left everything in his father's will, and he doesn't know how to feel about that.
-Mother died in childbirth, something his father kinda resents him for. All while telling Alec that he never loved her, and that she was just a means to an end (to have a heir), but its pretty obvious he loved her.
-Eventually lives a pretty happy life. All but adopts a kid, opens a florist shop, owns too many cats because he can't resist when he sees the strays.
