"Papillon’s helmet glints in the light of Deepforge, the orange glow casting a long shadow against the wall behind them. Their claws are quick, nimble for the amount of power that rings through the anvil with every strike of their hammer. The metal beneath their claws is white-hot, but they don’t seem to mind. They haven’t said a word, not in hours, but the hammer continues undaunted, echoing and reverberating in a clockwork rhythm through the stone-hewn tunnels to ring out into the mountains above.”

Papillon is the silent, always-masked blacksmith of the Sunlit Ruins. Once they joined the clan, wandering in from the hills in search of the rich ores hidden deep in the mountains, Papillon quickly became Bijou’s personal metallurgist for his unique jewelry projects, and many have commissioned their works, including Kikuichimonji’s replacement blade. But despite their popularity, they never speak, simply communicating their needs through gestures and actions.

Their helmet is a familiar gleaming sight amongst the townsfolk, where they can be found night or day at the local forge purifying their materials and working on the basic forms of what eventually become beautiful pieces of art. Their delicate butterfly wings betray their love for fine details, and they can spend hours hunched over their portable furnace crafting the perfect filigree or detailed punch-outs for their projects.
