Nightshade

Nightshade is an assassin. You would think someone smaller and more lithe would be better suited for this job, but she is frighteningly good at what she does thanks to the exceptional stealth skills (she has some of Ria’s powers, it seems). She’s a loner, her only companions are her trusty blade and a Death seeker named Kurohane. There is also that contradiction of a Guardian having to kill instead of protecting, and it had messed up her mindset and personality in some way.

“Nightshade” is a nickname given to her by her mentors (who weren’t quite the parental figures one would want to have). She didn’t receive a real name because she was supposed to get exalted alongside two her siblings soon after hatching. The prospect didn’t seem all too thrilling to her, so she somehow managed to escape. Little to nothing is known about her childhood, and she wouldn’t get in detail about it either.

She very seldom comes back to the clan lands, spending most of her time on missions she gets hired for. Which is just as well, because Nightshade doesn’t have a lot of warm feelings towards Ria and tries to avoid meeting her as much as possible. When she does come back, though, she prefers to lurk in the forests or somewhere in the outskirts of their territory. The rest of Ria’s clan doesn’t even know about her, and she is only happy to keep it that way.

When she returned one day, she noticed an addition to the clan that piqued her interest. It was a young pearlcatcher, and watching her filled Nightshade with feelings she never knew she could feel.
