The wildclaw's head snaps up irritably, crest feathers flaring. "It is. A scroll. And so, it will tell you what - What does it say? You may find your answers if you simply read-" Titus' sputtering admonishment dies mid-sentence as his eyes drop back to the scroll in question, taking in the neat, tiny writing. His ire cools quickly, something brief passing across his face before the wildclaw carefully tidies his expression into neutrality. The silence hangs for a long moment. Dagmar simply waits it out and Titus, sensing she was prepared to meet resistance, gives in. He sighs gustily, carefully moves the scroll out of the way to mark his place and shut his book, then lays it out properly. "It's an old record from, ah, our founder. The clan used to stay in the Windsinger's domain, did you know that? And Cirrus - they weren't called that then - kept their own accounts before I joined." "It reads like a sad fledgeling's journal with more like, business stuff. What happened?" "In short - clan got too big too fast. Became too much to handle. The strain of it! Stopped nesting, stopped eating, stopped even going out. Argil took on more and more and eventually she started drowning as well. And certain parties," Titus says acidly, "seized upon the opportunity. And instead of seeing the coup for what it was they just ran away and came back someone else." "That sounds, uh, dramatic.
