Biography

Lore glimmer: shade touched?
GalacticExplorer wrote on 2019-02-13 14:48:22:
It is possible that the Shade could return. According to the lore, the Shade seems to be attracted to chaos. The Shade first appeared during the First Age, when the original eight(?) deities were fighting. The battles created chaos, which ultimately led to the Shade's arrival. The Shade's second appearance occurred shortly after Arcanist was created. Plaguebringer and Gladekeeper were fighting then, creating chaos, while at the same time Arcanist destroyed the world first by being created, then by throwing his magic around, which easily could be mistaken for battling deities.

Which leads me to another theory. I believe that the deities themselves created the Shade without actually knowing that they created it. Yes, the Shade seems to be attracted to chaos, but only chaos created by the deities. The Shade seems to show up only when the deities are fighting, almost like it knows. The deities think the Shade wants to destroy them, but they are forced to unite against it, whereas they're usually against each other just before it arrives. The deities are meant to be leaders, always leading their flights toward good, and it seems that the Shade understands that.

Think of it this way. If the Shade had never come, would the deities have ever stopped fighting? And, if they never stopped fighting, would Sornieth as we know it even exist... or would they have destroyed the entire world without a second thought?

Don't be scared of the Shade. Be thankful for it. It's the reason that we have everything we have today.
