Biography
A dragon flew into your lair, looking for Diamond. She is a stately, bright blue skydancer with a pointy white hat and scarf, and she had a Dodo flying alongside her. She was carrying some packages.
When she found Diamond, she smiled gently. “My name is Siochain, and, I have some things here for you.” She offered an envelope, which Diamond opened.
Diamond looked away from the letter, and Siochain patted her hand gently. “You have a fine son. He trained with me, and even before he started gaining skill, he was brave. You should have seen him, darting in to scratch a roc right in the eye!”
“He did? Yes, that seems like him.”
Diamond returned to the letter.
Diamond could see it so clearly, her little boy warbling and, likely, scaring the hatchling roc away, even if the baby bird was bigger than Sylvester. Dodos were much calmer creatures, if the lore was to be believed.
“You taught my Sylvester? I don’t suppose—“
“No, he didn’t come with me. He’s gone on already, laughing and preening with his friends, Devlin, Pomegranate, Cameoleopardis, and Devil. They were quite a handful, arriving in our lair and flirting with everybody, wrestling around the dinner table, and training nonstop until their final feast with us.”
The letter continued, detailing other training incidents and a recipe he said he got from clan-leader Chymeria herself, and ending simply,
Diamond clutched the letter to her chest, and the dodo leaned against her legs.
Siochain laid some feathered bags, a cage of birds, and some other items down next to Diamond. “These are also for you. You should be very proud of your boy.”
“I am.” Diamond ran her hand over one of the rich, golden pelts. “I just wish he wasn’t so impatient, to go serve the Gods so young.”
“I know what you mean. My own first born left to serve Shadowbinder at a young age.”
“I shall imagine that they meet and become friends, then.” Diamond summoned a smile. “Can you stay for lunch? We can share stories of our children and be maudlin together, if you like.”
“That would be very pleasant. Thank you.”
And so they did.

Dear Mom,
I know it might not be what you wanted for me, but I’ve joined a group that is going to serve Shadowbinder. I trained really hard to qualify to join this group, and I think I did really well.

I tried to catch a baby roc, but the little critter got away. I did catch a Dodo, however, and as my new clan has one of those already, I asked my teacher to bring it to you.
