Riptide

A lone Fae flitted through the water. The Fishspine Trench was a colorful, lively place whose bright appearance differed from the dangers that lay within the nooks and crannies of the coral formations. A single, small dragon would be easy prey to larger fish, dragons, and the native Maren whom made their settlements there.
The sand erupted around the dragon, and a dark silhouette lunged. The Fae narrowly dodged the broadback pleco, and flared his wings and frills. The underside of his wings were painted in the likeness of a lion fish, a creature deadly enough that even the hardiest of pretadors avoided it. The pleco reared back and swam off, its powerful tail propelling it swiftly through the water.
The Fae folded his wings again, concealing the disguise under his brown scales. Scanning the sandy sea floor below him, he selected a spot close to an outcropping of mottled coral, half-hidden behind a curtain of bioluminescent sea anemones. He landed lightly, then began to bury himself beneath the sand. He shuffled it lightly over his wings, concealing his shape. And he waited.
Iridescent fish flitted past his face, unaware of his presence. He watched vast, hulking sharks cruise overhead, seeking prey. But the most interesting sights were new, undiscovered creatures native to the seas.

Riptide is an explorer. He spends most of his time outside of the lair, under the waves. His Waverider Cape, combined with his Water Flight heritage, lets him swim vast distances much more quickly than a non-Water dragon. When he finds a suitable spot, he lightly buries himself in the sand, perfectly camouflaged against the sea floor. This is how he discovers new species of fish.

During one of his adventures, Riptide befriended a Tenril Loach, who joined him on his travels. Riptide has named it Arcturus.

A minor enchantment performed by Coelestis let Riptide's favorite fish swim above water as well as below. These fish go everywhere with him, and Riptide spends an unfortunately large portion of his time prying these fish from the jaws of his clanmates. Namely, Azurite and Tsunami.

The underside of Riptide's wings and body are painted in the likeness of a lion fish. This is to keep larger predators from mistaking him for an easy meal.
