An arrow is drawn. As he watches from the shadows, another piece of rotten skin falls off. No matter. The target still has no idea he's there. He is as still and quiet as a living, breathing creature can possibly be.
ooooThe target stops, possibly remembering something important. Did they forget to ask for someone to watch over the eggs? Or perhaps they left the lair door unlocked?
ooooThat moment of hesitation, that thought that lingered too long, is exactly what he's been waiting for. An arrow is released.
ooooAs he rummages through the target's pockets, more flakes of dead skin are scattered all over. He looks at the brightly-coloured scales glistening in spots of sunlight filtered through the leaves. His calling card.
ooooHe waves his apprentice over to examine the target more thoroughly. His claws are twitching from the exertion. Every job was more difficult for him than the last. The disease had not been content with just ruining his appearance. Pain and an unbearable itch, slowly seeping into his muscles.
ooooA stray thought makes him bare his teeth in a smug grin. His apprentice looks at him with a vague concern in her eyes as he chuckles to himself. He might not have much time left, but neither do his targets.
