Atlas is a very unusual Tundra, hatched with a very strange ability and a deep affinity to water despite being a Wind Dragon. This charismatic and laid back Tundra tends to come out as a bit playboy-ish, but in fact he was actually very lonely, but the warmth of the Clan made him feel more open about it. Due to his strange ability of making illusions appear, he doesn't use it very much at all, only occasionally using it to pull pranks on the other Dragons, and was given the Protector title of Protector of Illusions. He's more active at night than the day, but he's gotten used to being awake during the day mostly just to be with Chocoll in the Library. Thanks to his affinity with water, he's an excellent swimmer, and can make the illusion of him blending into the water so others can't see him, which he does mainly to sneak up on the other Dragons while they relax by the water, much to their dismay.

It was a surprise for him when he woke up the day after the big party for Phase's Protector Naming Ceremony to find that Astraea had two eggs. He and her never meant to have done it, and he felt guilty towards Chocoll about it. But after the two little Tundras hatched, particularly Saurie, the stern Ice Dragon forgave him and agreed to take over to help care for Saurie in Astraea's place since the Nocturne was very busy with her own work. Since then, the two Tundras have raised Saurie, Chocoll turning into a proud parent for his adoptive hatchling, and Atlas couldn't be happier than being with his little family.

~Following Saurie's Death~

If it wasn't for Chocoll, Atlas would have been completely inconsolable over Saurie's death. As it was, Chocoll was able to slowly draw out the light from within Atlas' torn heart. Still, he hurt. A lot. And it was almost half a year later when the fire struck the Archive, and quite a few of his fellow Clanmates were killed. He tried to help, saved a few of his Clanmates - it was weird that he could call them that after staying so long - but still, some perished. It was too much; Atlas immediately reverted back, feeling as if he was nothing more than a shell of his former self. He knew Chocoll was at a loss of this, but he couldn't help it, the apathy and darkness gripping his heart.

And then Milithinal asked them to watch over Emmy.

Emmy, who had lost her mother in the fire. Emmy, who could never age due to the strange illness surrounding her. Emmy, who was somehow still so innocent, despite seeing so much tragedy. Emmy, who looked up to Atlas and Chocoll, and smiled so sweetly, despite the pain lingering in her eyes. And it was Emmy who finally brought Atlas out his shell.

He would never forget Saurie, no; but the memories slowly faded away to sweet ones as he finally was able to move past the hurt. Saurie may have been his first daughter, but he was sure she would have been happy to have had a little sister.

Atlas was definitely not expecting to have fallen in love with the stern librarian that Chocoll is, and he definitely wasn't expecting for him to fall so deep. Atlas was boredly watching most of the other Dragons of the Clan get ready for a big expedition trip, but he didn't feel all that much of a historian that day. With nothing else to do, he walked around Clan Paladin's den, when he happened into the now empty Library, and decided to just look around. He fleetingly noticed that Chocoll, the librarian, was sitting at his desk with some documents as he flipped through random pages of random books he found, and passingly noticed the Ice Dragon looking increasingly annoyed whenever he placed a book back. Not finding them interesting, he walked over the other Tundra, and began to pester the stern Ice Dragon half-heartedly with questions about what he was doing, finding his annoyed reactions mildly entertaining.

Since then, even after the other Dragons returned, everyday Atlas would find himself walking into the Library to to talk to the Ice Dragon. To Atlas' own surprise, he found himself enjoying the company of the other Tundra, to the point he would miss him when he wasn't there. When he found out Chocoll was sick, he came to stay with him to keep him company, and soon began to realize that he dearly cared for the Ice Dragon. Then, one day, Atlas finally came to terms with his feelings for the other Tundra, and confessed to him. To his utter surprise and joy, the staen Librarian softened and accepted his feelings, making Atlas absolutely happy for he couldn't imagine passing a day without Chocoll at his side.

Quote:
"Scottish mythology tells us Ashrays, or Water Lovers, are completely translucent water creatures that are often mistaken for sea ghosts. They can be both male and female and can be found only under water. Being completely nocturnal, one would never come across such creatures during the day. When captured and exposed to sunlight ashrays supposedly melt and only a puddle of water remains."

In Loving Memory: Saurie

The day Saurie passed away, Atlas felt... nothing. He felt his heart freeze over with ice, and felt nothing. That day, while everyone else in the clan couldn't believe that the lovable Tundra passed away, Atlas simply stared at her motionless body while Chocoll and Astraea cried over her lost. Over the next several days, Atlas went into a downhill spiral. He avoided everyone, including an increasingly concerned Chocoll. Finally, Chocoll confronted his beloved, only to find that Atlas was completely broken with sorrow. Feeling for his partner, Chocoll spent the following days helping Atlas to get back on his feet. His Clan, also realizing just the amount of pain and suffering he was feeling, also did whatever they could to help lift the grieving Tundra's heart. Slowly Atlas began to feel like his old charismatic self again, and ever since then he's learned to cherish his beloved and Clan's love, though to this day the pain of his loss still lingers...

Atlas x Chocoll

Atlas has always had mixed feelings about the sunlight.

Being the way he is with his strange affiliation towards water - more like being able to become the water, as it were - he's never been one to be out in the sunlight too much. Having always been more of a night Dragon, Atlas would spend his days sleeping and his nights going out and continuing on his way without a destination in mind. It's not that he didn't like the sunlight or was afraid of it, it's just that it always made him feel... ill, like he was going to melt away any second, and that wasn’t including the fact that his winter coat still hadn’t shed yet.

When he came upon the Clan, he was pretty sure he wasn't going to stay very long.

Clan Paladin and it's residents were very hospitable to him for the most part, allowing him to stay as he passed through the Sunbeam Ruins on his way to the Tangled Wood. He really didn't like the Sunbeam Ruins for the same reason he didn't like the daytime;the sunlight was just… too much. While he planned to stay only a day, something kept him from want to leave. Or, more specifically, someone.

Chocoll was harsh and unforgiving from the beginning.

The Ice Tundra did not accept Atlas' presence anywhere, just barely being able to stand it inside the library. Atlas didn't plan on spending most of his time there as he really wasn't one who liked to read much, but something about the other Tundra captivated him. Without even realizing it, Atlas stayed with the Clan for two days - a week, a month - all so he could learn more about the fascinating librarian.

Atlas soon came to realize what exactly this feeling was, and he wasn't the only one.

It happened about a month and a half after staying with the Clan. The other Clan members were more than happy for him to stay as long as he wished, and Atlas was going about like he usually did which mostly consisted of him flirting with almost all of the Clan’s members. Atlas simply assumed Chocoll didn't like him and wouldn't care if Atlas continued his flirtatious attitude to the rest of the Clan - not that anything would come of it, of course - but he soon found out he was wrong. Chocoll finally came upon him and berated Atlas for acting as such. At first Atlas was confused, but then realized that the other Tundra felt jealous, which gave a spark of hope.

Nothing would come of this love... right?

No matter what Atlas did, Chocoll's attitude to Atlas was almost always the same cold manner from the beginning, and Atlas felt lost. He knew there was no way Chocoll would ever come to love him, and for the first time Atlas felt his heart pulse in pain, a pain that was indescribable. Not being able to face the Tundra's coldness any longer, Atlas finally left one night without a word to any of the other Dragons, the ones he had learned to call his friends, and disappeared into the dark.

Where do you go when you have nothing left to go on for?

Atlas, being a Wind Dragon, always wandered without a destination in mind but always sure of himself on the way. Now, for the first time, he felt truly lost and alone. He traveled across the Sunbeam Ruins, not heading to the Tangled Woods anymore as he just wandered aimlessly, until he finally came upon the cliffside where the Sunbeam Ruins met the sea, the Beacon’ like a sentry down the coastline. It was an incredible sight to watch the sun's warm glow above the water, the waves lapping against the cliffs, but to the Tundra all he felt was a harsh, bitter cold, something far worse than that of the Southern Icefield during the winter.

Wouldn't it be better if he could disappear completely?

Atlas truly considered this. He could just simply walk of this cliff and become one with the only true friend he's made; the icy cold depths of the open sea. Making up his mind, Atlas turned back to the sunlit ruins and revisited his dislike for the sunlight; or, what used to be a dislike. Not that it mattered anymore, as not even the sun could melt his frozen heart. Sighing, he turned back to the cliff and, with his eyes closed with a silent farewell to his beloved, he stepped forward...

The world might not be as cold as he thought.

Something soft, fluffy and surprisingly warm wrapped around his body, holding him back tightly. When Atlas turned to look, he couldn't process the sight of Chocoll hugging him from behind, using his wings to keep Atlas secure. When Atlas opened his mouth, not even knowing what he wanted to say, Chocoll slowly and quietly looked into his eyes, and with tears starting to stream down them, gave Atlas a tentative yet sure kiss.

The sunlight may be painful at times… but, perhaps, he could finally live in it’s warmth.
