Quoioi left home when he was still young, looking for his Charge. A Guardian's Charge is Very Important. He found a Guardian escorting a pair of pale Coatls across the wastes of Plague. The Guardian introduced himself as Arcturus, and invited Quoioi to join them in their travels. Thinking the journey may come across his Charge, Quoioi joined them. They found many strange creatures and tamed several.

Eventually they entered the Tangled Wood with their strange entourage, and near the southern border came across a small settlement where he met the kindest Guardian, Sildra. Sildra invited Quoioi to stay as long as he wanted and to return anytime he wished. She also defended him from any rude commentary, mostly from a pink Wildclaw. He ignored said nuisance, thanked Sildra, and tagged along with Arcturus and the pale Coatls on their next journey.

The journey was much like the first, though they traveled through more civilized areas to trade. Arcturus taught Quoioi how to barter, in case his Charge was for sale somewhere. Conveniently, it was. Arcturus lent him the gold, but made him do the bartering. Finally, he held the scroll in his claws. He was barely an adult and his adventuring had already paid off. The caravan returned to Sildra's land with a gleeful Quoioi. He chattered happily at Sildra and spent several days admiring his new scroll.

He was so enamored with his new purchase that he begged Arcturus for proper lessons on bartering. He left often to the nearby markets to barter, and slowly increased his riches to repay Arcturus and gift him and Sildra fancy gene scrolls and apparel.
