Aila has no memory of where she comes from, and doesn't truly know where she's headed. All she knows for certain is that she is meant to ease the suffering of others, and she fulfills this purpose with each passing day.

The healer's earliest memories are of waking up in a strange lair with a kindly looking coatl tending to Aila's wounded wing. the coatl explained that she was a healer belonging to the Clan of Whispering Tides. Confused and disoriented, Aila just nodded, trying to keep track of everything she'd been told. How she injured herself, the dragoness would never know, but that encounter helped shape the rest of the young imperial's life.

As she healed, the coatl, Hali, who she assumed saved her, became a close friend and mentor. Time passed and Hali even offered Aila a permanent spot in the infirmary as her assistant, but the imperial declined.

She felt he calling lay outside of the Whispering Tides Clan and was determined to sort out her own life. Though sad and a bit disappointed, Hali understood. She gave the imperial a set of fine garments and asked her servant, a young maren scout, to accompany the imperial.

As Aila sets out on her own, she still has no clue where she came from or who she is. While she is curious about those things, her greatest wish is to find a clan in need of her newfound skills as a healer.
