When Ningosquama was born, she was greeted by her mother in a dark cave. Outside, the cold, howling winds of a snow storm were threatening to invade their cramped little den. Her mother, weak and starving, did as much as she could to keep her little one alive, but the freezing wind was a constant reminder that their time was limited.

After Ningo's mother passed, she raised herself. She built up an immunity to the cold, never allowing herself to enjoy warmth and always keeping herself exposed to the elements. Until the day she met Puer. He was from a place where snow was rare and the cold was never a threat. He was shivering. Freezing.
