Though this Guardian has searched high and low, she has yet to discover her Charge. Countless days and nights have been exhausted in pursuit of the one she would devote her life to, the one that would fulfill her purpose. With the setting of the sun on each day that passed without success, she became more and more restless. And as she became more frustrated with a fruitless Search, she became more short-sighted...

Heedless of the advice from the elder Guardians she encountered in her travels across Sornieth, Alita stopped at nothing in an attempt to find her Charge. There was no risk too great. Whether she displayed courage or outright foolishness was to be debated. Perhaps it was merely devotion and the undertaking of a particularly arduous Search? Or was she too impatient, and too reckless with her own life? Whatever the truth, only a Guardian like herself could understand the itch to find her Charge. It felt as though a colony of fire ants had made their home beneath her hide, and the longer her Search continued, the more distraught she became.

As she continued to travel across Sornieth, tempting death's hand to end her Search prematurely on too many occasions to count, she came to realize something: When she was nearest death, in mortal danger, she had the greatest sense of clarity. Was dancing with death bringing her nearer to the end of her Search?

While traveling through the Shifting Expanse, she came upon a lair in which she would receive advice from the most unexpected of dragons. For a time she found happiness with the clan's flight instructor. Together the pair produced two clutches, and though she had found a suitable mate, his companionship was not enough for her to abandon her Search. As she prepared to take her leave from what had become a second home, the clan's astrologer approached her. Though she had seen him several times during her stay with the clan, Alita and Astron had never before spoken.

His voice was rich and resonated with power when he spoke to her. "I know that you are taking your leave. Though I cannot tell you where your journey will take you, I can tell you this: your path is one that overlaps with those of the Spirits that inhabit this world. They rarely deign to reveal themselves to us, but they live among us, even now, though we are ignorant to their presence. If you can learn more about them, perhaps then you will find what you seek."

Before she could ask more of him, the Imperial turned tail and departed. Leaving the Shifting Expanse behind, Alita puzzled over his advice and her own experiences. The near death experiences of the past had certainly brought her closest to discovering her Charge, that much she was certain of. The emotions she associated with those experiences matched the descriptions she had heard from other Guardians who had successfully discovered their own Charges. But what did Astron's advice mean? Was her Charge a spirit? How could it be so if her close encounters with death - reminders of her mortality - brought her the closer to completing her Search?

Although Alita felt more confused than ever before, she also felt even more determined to continue her Search. She knew the answers to her questions lie with the few mortals across Sornieth with Spiritual connections. In time, her journey would lead her to discover that she was one of these rare individuals. But until she unlocks her connection to the spiritual realm, she will continue onwards as the seeker of spirits.

Alita's travels brought her to many places and she wandered far from her home once again in search of her charge. She found herself taking refuge in the windsinger's domain, and although she knew of all the dangerous places in Sorneith, the gentle breeze in the reedcleft ascent meant her no harm. The night sky let down its light with enough luminescence to guide her through the cliffy terrain.

Her travels through the calm land led her to a valley protected by the rough, fractured landscape. The valley was quiet and the breeze running through it felt like the gentle breathing of a sleeping beast. Alita could see a couple figures resting in the soft grass amongst bunches of bamboo. Although, one stood out and paced in the center of the valley. Through the darkness she managed to make out the large guardian's hunched posture and restless movements.

Her observance had obviously not gone unnoticed, as she heard the footsteps of another dragon's approach among the clacking of the bamboo. It was another guardian, male, that shared her darker colors with tints of brighter purples and greens. Unfazed by her unannounced presence in their land, he spoke to her in a curious but welcoming tone.

He introduced himself as Mystic, and Alita inquired about the hunched guardian that was pacing in the center of the valley while the rest of their group seemed to be resting. He explained that the guardian's name was Endaf and had been of the original founders of the clan, but had lost his charge in a ferocious battle during its creation. Although he wandered around the territory during the day Endaf never slept and was always drawn back to the place where his charge was buried.

Mystic described how the valley had been the battlefield where two groups clashed, he did not know the history of the battle or its origin. Alita could feel the resting spirits here slowly reveal themselves to her. The valley was peaceful except for the guardian in the center, where there was a spirit that still clung to the world of the living.
