The Failed Assassin

Vixie is a long time member of the Swamp, one of the first few dragons to join when the Clan was founded. She was born in the Tangled Wood and is a loyal disciple of the Shadowbinder, just as her parents were, so she has not experienced the usual scorn that most coatls with duller patterns have. In fact, Vixie is quite proud of her feathers and considers her shadowy coloration a gift from the Shadowbinder herself. She can often be found preening her feathers and aligning them perfectly so that they shine. Vixie comes from a line of darkly colored assassin coatls, a famous bunch in the Tangled Wood, but for more than one reason never really involved herself in that particular occupation. It's rumored that her relatives were quite anxious to get rid of her and place her in a newer clan.

Vixie is a bit of a bossy dragon. She is one of the first to get on the backs of newer shyer dragons that come to the clan, barking orders and buzzing around them insistently as she tests their loyalty and their strength (something she probably picked up from Carnie in his early years, but luckily the Guardian has kicked that particular habit at Morogog's request). The difference between Vixie and Carnie barking threats at you Is that Carnie can back it up and Vixie cannot. Her lisp makes her pretty hard to take seriously and crueler members of the Clan have been known to make fun of her mercilessly for the impediment. The more she's made fun of, the angrier she gets, and the lisp worsens. In response, the coatl goes on and on about what a great warrior she is and how much she has been taught by Carnie, but anyone that watches her knows better. Vixie is not suited for battle. A couple dragons would certainly argue that she's not really good for anything but the occasional laugh.

Vixie is something of a clutz, commonly crashing into brambles and tree limbs and tripping over her own feet and tail. Trips to gather supplies always end up with Vixie tangled up with something or with Vixie hurt by some swamp animal she decided to challenge and everyone else having to help her. Her impressive wardrobe is designed to be intimidating and scary and she does her very best to be frightening, bu as much as she tries she just always seems to fall short and some how end up the butt of the joke instead.

Despite all of this Vixie is a determined little creature with a real fighting spirit. She rarely backs down from a challenge and faces danger bravely (and stupidly) head on. Because of her devotion to the Shadows and fearlessness, she's been a resident of the Black Swamp for a very long time and will live out her days there.

RELATIONSHIPS


2815716.png Carnie is something of Vixie's idol. She wants to be as wonderful, knightly, and brave as he is. Carnie thinks she's a total loser, but would never say that to her and does nothing but encourage her knightly warrior goals.
