B I O G R A P H Y Reckless - Proud - Cheeky Like his grandmother before him, the infection having skipped his father, Volcoraine was born with the infection. A foul infection of fungus that slowly saps the life from the host. To be so young and full of life, only to start the process of dying before your first molting. Many would have seen it as a sign to give up on life, to let this foul infection take its course and be snuffed out like a candle in the night. But not Volcoraine, Volcoraine would go out in a blaze of glory. Eldest of three and big brother to two smaller sisters, he would have lots of practice on how to show off. His mother still pales at the memory of her son's first flight attempt. So reckless with his life! Throwing himself from the tallest cliff he could find with his sisters staring in horror. Luckily his brother Akihiko had been in passing when he saw the little fool. Snatched him right up and brought him before their sire and dame. So fearful he may cause harm to not only himself but his sisters, they had sent him away to live with his brother Akihiko in the shadow realm. Living with his trickster brother has taught the young skydancer much and has blessed him with a cheeky mouth. Always spouting off about his misadventures and taking pride int hem, even if not so ethical. Despite his looming death, the young dragon vows to be the brightest flame in this dark world.

Eldest of the three, and the only son, Volcoraine was the most reckless out of his siblings. Mere hours after hatching, he was out of the nest, taking his first steps, while his sisters simply stayed. He was restless as well. Full of energy, he would be seen dashing madly from place to place, or either gliding short distances. He was the first one to fly as well. And the first one to crash-land on the ground.

His mother was worried about him a lot, wishing he would not do such reckless things. His father saw yet another failure of a heir, lacking the abilities he considered to be the ones he wanted in his heir. His sisters were indifferent, harboring anger against him for being the heir. Yet none of these even seemed to faze him. He never hated them, although he was terrified by his father.

Although he might not fear anything, his mother is a different story. She had heard rumors that he could just like his younger brother from the first of her clutch, Akihiko. Even though he was not as shunned by them, some of them warned their young to avoid him. Even then, his spirit never seemed dampen by these. Instead, he used these as motivation to strive harder to earn their approval, much to the anger of his father, hoping that it would break his spirit.

She noticed something wrong with him, however. Somedays, his energy was boundless, easily recovering from crashes within seconds. But some days, his breathes too hard, seems more sluggish and tired, and would take longer to recover from crashes. This worried his mother greatly, for she had overheard a conversation between James and Sameth, before the two had their first clutch, she could remember some words she heard, like skipped, infection, mother's side, inherit. Those words alone sent shivers down her spine.

Then one day, the bumps appeared.

It was unnoticeable at first. Yet it announced it's appearance by an itch on his left shoulder. He ended scratching his shoulder so much, at one point he ended up losing some fur, showing a patch of inflamed skin.

Ointments didn't have an effect, and neither did waiting the itch out. Nothing ever seemed to work.

Then one day, he noticed the bumps were slightly larger now. And much more painful to scratch. His showed it to his mother and complained that it was disturbing his concentration on his flying.

He didn't notice the horrified stare of his mother, when she realized what exactly was happening to her son.
