______ I tsepäinen ja peräänantamaton. Damien syntyi sisarusten piirittämään perheeseen Tuhansien virtojen merellä. Tyytymättömänä omaan asemaansa katraan keskimmäisenä, hän lähti jo nuorella iällä etsimään elämälleen tarkoitusta. Hän oppi taistelemaan Arpien erämaassa ja kunnostautui erittäin taitavana miekkailijana toisen klaanin keskuudessa. Harpalykestä tuli hänen suuri esikuvansa.


______ K erran tehtävänsä yhteydessä Damien tapasi nuoren Lordi Machaon. Pojista tuli ajan myötä niin hyviä ystäviä, että Damien jätti Arpien erämaan kokonaan taakseen ja siirtyi Tähdenlennon saarille, jossa tämän ystävän perheen hovi sijaitsi. Ensin Damien esittäytyi Lordi Machaonin henkivartijana. Pojat harjoittelivat miekkailua ja metsästystä yhdessä, mutta Lady Chouchoun ilmestyttyä kuvioihin Damien siirtyi taka-alalle ja toimi pikemminkin ystävänsä neuvonantajana militaarisissa asioissa. Lordin ja Ladyn hovissa Damien tutustui Layeenneen, kaukaa saarille eksyneeseen lohikäärmeeseen.
