Biography
"people are dripping Black Tar; it's taken our ship down so far
don't wanna lose hope; but, here we are
wishing to see the sunrise, but the sun doesn't rise in this sky
Black Tar covers most eyes"

To most, Biahno was a rather unremarkable dragon. She shied away from confrontation, instead choosing to invest her time in the study of plants and other flora. Her travels led her to the Celadon Corsairs, with Wraith taking her in to help "nurture her talents", as he said. She spent her days in the company of the clan's alchemists; studying the ingredients they used, and offering alternatives that she had studied. She was happy, and all was well. For a time. The flower was the catalyst, she now knows. The flower with the shadowy petals that echoed the inky black of the night sky, the thorns that could pierce even the toughest of scales, the lingering scent of rain on its stamen. The only one of its kind she had ever found, and would ever find since; changing its glow in tune with her emotions. It was an enigma, a miracle. A beautiful disaster. It knew her. She had to find out more. She became engrossed in the investigation of this strange flower, abandoning all of her other duties in the clan to do so. Something in the flower responded to her emotions, and the emotions of those around her, as well— sentient flora, mayhaps? The product of another dragon's experiments? A naturally occurring phenomenon? The more she studied, the more questions she had, her already extensive studies growing by the day. Everything was penned down neatly in her journal, that she might one day share the fruits of her labors with the world— she hoped, at least. Her friends and colleagues became concerned; she would rarely show up to help them, eat at odd hours, spend sleepless nights on increasingly repetitive tests. Some tried to ease her away from the flower, yet they were met with indifference. Not that she cared, she was more than happy to let her relationships deteriorate if it meant furthering her research. The flower was the only thing that mattered. She was close to something, she could feel it. The days stretched on without end, repeating, repeating— until one damp morning, in her haste, she pricked her claw on one of the flower's thorns. Small drops of blood trickled from the wound; insignificant. She paid it no mind, writing the instance down in her journal, even as something in her... shifted. Her vision unfocused, eyes straining at something unseen, whispering abstruse words unbidden from her maw. Her shaky heartbeat quickened— excited; terrified. This is it— Acceptance. This was what we were waiting for. The petals shone red in response. The day later, when those who she once called friends went to check on her, the alcove in which she lived was found empty. No trace of her remained, nor any sign of the flower she was so hell-bent on studying. Whether she vanished or simply fled, none could say— all that persisted in the abandoned cave was the lingering scent of rain, and Biahno's journal abandoned on her bed. The records found within became more and more erratic, more cryptic, with the final entry scribbled in haste with what looked like blood. "We were blind. The seeds of the dead shall ripen, the flower the guide to revelation, the fatal conduit to open our minds to the truth. Too much for us to bear. Too much. Too late. They are coming. We are coming. Annihilation. Annihilation. Annihilation." |
