Biography
Kurai
Founder of the First Dynasty
"Behind my smile is a hurting heart. Behind my laugh, I'm falling apart. Look closely and you will see, that the girl I am...isn't me."
I am not who dragons think I am. The Shade was the one who took me in, cared for me. Maybe you thought I was just another dragon born of the Plague, with my eyes intense as the heat of fire. You were wrong. The Shade took me over, destroyed my sense of emotion. I can't think for myself, I can't even speak my inner feelings.
Nobody would want to even be close to me. Finally, every ounce of my emotion was released, as I simply became a heap of anger, happiness, and sadness as I let it all go. The Shade couldn't touch me for that instant, as everything I felt turned loose. I couldn't even blink with all the water in my eyes, or breath with all the incomprehensible mumble I yelled out.
Someone prodded me on the shoulder, gently. Looking up, I sniffled as a dragon of a purple nature greeted me. I stood up, dazed as the Shade watched in glee. The dragon looked just like me, but purple and covered in red splotches. I talked to him about everything, needing someone to listen of my terrors. He stood, and when I stopped he laughed heartily as if I had just told a good joke. I inquired, and he showed me his paws. On the bottom, there was the eyeball of a unsuspecting Fae, blood still squirting from it.
We both laughed as the Shade saw this happily, her job complete, as both of us were twisted cold blooded killers. I asked for marriage, and while we became the happiest bride in the world, my husband, Reike, said one thing. "I could've gotten Her to leave a long time ago, you know. I'm sorry. I-I can't stop thinking about it. After all, I am the Shade's younger brother."
I couldn't stop myself. Nobody could've. Blood oozed all over the room as I shrieked in rage. "YOU DID NOTHING! YOU STOOD BY AND LAUGHED AT ME WHEN YOU COULD'VE STOPPED IT ALL!" I clawed through his veins and purple fur, hoping he would die like all the rest. His bones were scratched and his fluff made him look like a monster, the origin of my despair.
Reike just sat there and took it all, staring into my eyes. A single tear fell onto my paw, stopping me in my tracks. I suddenly embraced him, big wet drops of acidic water everywhere. Finally, we simultaneously took a step back as I saw that I had created a giant tree, a monstrosity of one if you will. We called it the Burning Ash, for all our faults. We had found home.
