Harvey is a gentle dragon who enjoys sitting in the sunshine. He spends a lot of his time reading and writing. He's fond of hatchlings, and likes to tell them stories. He often brings treats, too, so the hatchlings tend to really like him. Many dragons think that such a peaceful and frankly boring-seeming dragon must be hiding all sorts of dark secrets, but Harvey's darkest secrets seem to just be his writing. It's not even that dark, either. He just sometimes writes sad stories, or the occasional drama. He wouldn't count his past as a dark secret, but others might. He certainly doesn't share it readily. Harvey's documented it in a diary he keeps hidden securely under a floorboard under his bed. He'd rather not think about it more than he has to, but his therapist suggested writing it down as a way of dealing with it. He's grateful his fur hides the scars left from it. He's grateful many of the dragons involved are now dead. He's grateful the experiments didn't leave him some sort of mutated abomination. It robbed him of his good eyesight, but his glasses work well enough. He still gets headaches from it sometimes and has to retreat to the darkness of his room to recuperate. But he's alright now, he reminds himself. Especially after the nightmares. He's safe now. His life is so peaceful most would consider it boring, but not a second goes by where he doesn't appreciate the dullness of it. Visiting with the hatchlings and seeing their bright eyes always cheers him up. Hearing them ask excitedly if he'll share another story today. And he's comforted by the knowledge that they can grow up with stories being the scariest things they have to endure. Yes, his life is nice now. He likes it as it is. He wouldn't trade it for the world. - | ____________________ |
