Biography

Scout
Secure Course

The Sphenoid Clan is ruthless, and Niaka is no exception. She hails from Plague, her touch corrosive, her voice acidic, sight red tinged with blood.

Niaka's first memories are of being alone. If she concentrates hard enough, for long enough, she remembers warmth. Dreams of borrowing into fluff to keep the world at bay. Of well read books and worn pages. Sometimes, she can still smell bound leather.

In broken recollections Niaka likes to believe that everything was done for her ailment before she was discarded. The vivid memories are of being an offering to the Plaguebringer and refusing, running off a scared hatchling.

It did not take long for her to understand. Some corrosive curse was born inside her. Where she stays is destined to decay. Trees and grass curl away brown, buildings crumble, machines rust. Creature and Dragons a like begin to rot alive.

Alone is not the way of a Mirror. Quickly it became the way of Niaka.

Her travels with the clan began on a whim, a tug of interest. Several times she saw the unusual clan together - Mirrors, Wildclaws, and a Guardian, among them. The occasional glimpse of a Fae, safe and sound in the hollows of a rotting Mirror's bones.

Niaka has never been able to tell herself no. Never steered clear of danger nor oddities and to start now was foolish. She approached Noir and Casalain: the most magical and docile Mirrors, respectively, she has ever seen.

The trials were grueling but well worth the reward. Stable clan life may not be what all Mirrors desire yet she is content and curious with these misfits and thieves. Niaka's position allots her the solitude to exist with her curse whist having the comfort of long awaited touch.

Noir's magic is strong - perhaps a gift of a Fae Father - and it keeps Niaka's corrosion at bay. For that she is forever grateful. Allowed to experience frivolity like love for Casalain with his soft feathers and gentle nature. For herself, freedom she has never known. To collect rocks that previously crumbled in her claws, to roll in the soft grass not turned brittle.
