Sunisea
Traveler
A determined soul in search of answers

“I’m the youngest of five. I know how to deal with crap.”
DreamingWolf wrote:
Sunisea is from a litter of five, she being the fifth, and the youngest. The fourth sibling, another female like herself, was far too intelligent to get involved with the other antics of the three, so her story is one that was left behind for another day.

Sunny though…she and her three elder brothers got into a good deal of trouble once upon a time. They ended up running off and away from the nest. Their adventure led them to an island by the name of Soteria. There the four of them grew up within the safe confines of the resident clan, each falling into their destined roles with relative ease. Except for Sunny, that is.

The only female of the group had a hard time focusing long enough to truly find a useful job for herself. Timbren became a guardian, Crispin a druid, and Raeios and interesting sort of babysitter. So what did that leave her?

This question troubled Sunny for a good deal of time, until she finally went to face her brothers to tell them she was leaving.

“I’m going to find our sister, and that starts with going home”

-o-oOo-o-

Returning to her origins wasn't exactly like coming home to Sunisea. She was so young when she left the nest with her siblings, nobody was familiar to her. The clan's daycare attendant, Winston, recognized her immediately. The old Snapper rushed up to her, catching the Imperial off guard as he leaned in close to her face. He circled her quickly, moving swiftly despite his elderly looks.

He finally came to a stop in front of the dragon, shaking his head. "I was wondering where you disappeared to," he chuckled softly. His face then hardened as he shot a semi-serious glare at her. "I understand you're a fully grown young girl now, but you should've known better than to run off like that! You could've been hurt out there on your own!"

"Uh... Sorry?" She looked around awkwardly, scratching at the ground a bit before looking back to the Snapper.

However, he had already turned and started heading back toward his home. "Come along, now!" he called. "We have much to discuss! And I'm sure your parents would like to hear of your travels, as well!"

Her parents were still here? A sudden guilt washed over her. Her mother and father must've been devastated to find a nest of five turning to a nest of one overnight. But now that she was here, she could tell them that they were all okay! And her sister... Sunisea would finally meet her sister again and figure out why she stayed behind.

-o-oOo-o-

Upon entering the Snapper's home, Sunisea was immediately greeted by small hatchlings at her feet, cooing in curiosity at the new face.

"Down, children," Winston laughed, gently pulling them away with his tail. Upon looking up to the elder, Sunisea found that two small spirals had already made themselves at home on the Snapper, loosely wrapping around his head like a living crown. "My name is Winston, by the way. I take care of all of the Shinefeather Clan's hatchlings- and then some." He nudged the Coatl and Imperial hatchlings away, encouraging them to play. The Spirals didn't even wait for him to lower his head to scurry after the others.

"Now," he sighed, taking a seat and gathering the scattered drawings around him, "Why don't you take a seat, tell me your story so far. I'm excited to hear what's come to you since you and your brothers left. I'm hoping they're all okay."

Sunisea nodded, picking up a few more doodles out of Winston's reach before sitting beside him. "Yes, they're all fine. They've made themselves at home on an island by the name of Soteria. I had a bit of a difficult time finding my place with the clan we found, but my brothers have found their place just fine."

The Snapper smiled, straightening the papers and moving to set them on a table nearby. "That's good, that's good. Are they coming back at some point as well? Or are you just here to visit?"

The Imperial shook her head. "I was actually coming back to find my sister. I remember there being five of us, and she didn't come with us. I want to know why she stayed behind, what she's been up to... Maybe even see if she'd like to visit our brothers."

Winston glanced to Sunisea, a slight frown pulling at his lips. "My dear- ah... I never asked your name."

"Sunisea, sir."

"Sunisea... A pleasant name." He stood up and checked on the hatchlings in the other room, peering through the doorway. "Sunisea, I'm afraid your sister isn't here anymore. Like you and your brothers, she left the nest, although she waited a bit longer to leave, and she let me know that she was leaving, as well." He turned to the bright-winged Imperial. "She went off to find herself a new home. I'd tell you where, but I'm afraid I don't even know."

Sunisea frowned. Her sister... left? Seems the adventurous mentality was in their blood. But if she wasn't home, then she could be anywhere. The world was much too large for Sunisea to find her sister in one night, let alone a lifetime.

The Imperial promptly stood and turned from the door. "I'll be going," she said softly as she saw her way out.

Winston hurried to block her way out. "Now just wait a second!" he huffed, shooting another half-hearted glare at her. "You're not leaving the clan without at least giving your parents a visit!" His eyes softened and a smile appeared. "Besides... Maybe your place is right here at home." He nodded his head toward the doorway. "Come now. I'll introduce you to the clan and your parents."
