Lurk is considered a mythical figure within the area it roams. Few actually believe it exists. Those who have seen it are believed as much as the next fool making up grand adventures of slaying it.

Those who ignore the warning signs suffer the most. The stories from those who have seen it sell of an odd tense feeling following them for hours before they finally begin seeing black streaks in their peripheral. By the time they spot it full on they're already thoroughly shaken from the feeling of being stalked all night. A soothing hum fills the air. Its eyes are tiny pinpricks of white. A glance of seeming judgement passes over its victim... And then it vanishes in a blink.

At least for the lucky ones.


The hatchlings revere it in a twisted way, claiming it foretells omens and bad luck and that those who heed can avoid it.

The young believe it to be the counterpart of the mysterious "Egg Keeper". A few adults identify them as the same imaginary creature, but this is an ignorant misconception. Where the Egg Keeper delivers to and carries eggs from harm, so too does Lurk with the hatchlings.


And dragons are beginning to miss their young.
