History

Aila was, once upon a time, a Tundra. Born almost simultaneously as Alkaid and Hineihana's first hatchling, an accord was struck between the two clans that had happened upon each other during a patrol of their designated areas: they would take the little Guardian hatchling (who already rivaled her then-Tundra mother in size) and raise her outside of the Wastes, while Alkaid and Hineihana would take one of their hatchlings to raise in a life outside of the Steppes. Also at that time, it became agreed that, should anything happen to the leaders of the clan, Aila would be the heir apparent.

Aila grew fast, into a beautiful Tundra. However, she soon discovered that her coat was glimmering in ways it never had before. She also found a strange scroll one day, one that she spent hours studying. While the scroll initially seemed to have no effect, that would change in the morning, when Hineihana would be fretting over her, wondering how she'd become a Pearlcatcher.

With her maturing came responsibilities. A mate had been found for her; one that also hailed from the Zephyr Steppes, but she was taking up the mantle of keeping the borders patrolled around their growing clan. As she was patrolling one day, she found a young Mirror hatchling, obviously left behind by its pack.

Concerned for its health, Aila brought it back to the clan, where she soon found another scroll--not unlike the one Aila herself had found--and read it. The next day, she found a small Pearlcatcher regurgitating some eggshell to form a pearl, and she looked up at Aila curiously.

That little Pearlcatcher, known as SpringsSong, and Aila would become fast friends--in fact, they became so close that Aila conceded her position as the clan second to SpringsSong, but was granted the position underneath Aila. Aila was the more skilled combatant at the time, so she began to train Spring--at least, until her abilities surpassed her own.
