Ezili was known by another name, and another face for many years. She had lived in many clans, and had many mates and children in her life. She had been known then as Forgewright, a mossy Tundra who had hatched out alone from an egg stolen by beastclans. Life was tough then, and she'd grown up hardened and independent. The connections she made never lasted, because she had never fully learned to trust and be part of a community. A lonely soul.

She left yet another clan, and travelled North. She always expected to travel - that was her life. She had tried to settle with another Tundra once, he had sired most of her children but, ultimately, it seemed such a thing was against her nature.

She wandered aimlessly into the Viridian Labyrinth, relishing being alone once again, deliberately getting herself lost. She had no intention of encountering any other dragons for a long time. There she remained for weeks, hidden in the deep foliage, wild and free.

One day, she discovered a deep, clear lake. It was well hidden, and no life was in sight. No fish in the pristine water, no birds bathing. Entirely empty. Perhaps that should have concerned her, but it was beautiful. The sunlight made the still surface glow and she was drawn to it - into it even.

The water was cool and refreshing. She could feel it soaking right into her fur, making her heavier but lighter at the same time as it fanned out around her. Her heart felt lighter too.

She dived under just to submerge her head, and came right back up. Her head felt much heavier as she shook it as if her horns were weighted. As she opened her eyes, she realised she was in the middle of the lake. She had never had much of an affinity for water, being an earth dragon, and the fact she had swam so far surprised her. She didn't feel any panic. She felt capable. From her position, she was surrounded by brilliant light, so bright that it was almost blinding.

She could not say how long she had stayed there before a gentle breeze came, rippling the surface of the water and almost coaxing her to move back to the bank.

Forgewright emerged as Ezili that day, her spirit given peace and her body changed. She never found the lake again, but she didn't need to.

The next clan she encountered, she remained at and felt, in her new heart, that this was permanent.

Ezili is still a solitary dragon, and travels often. The sister clan of the Gardens, situated in the Highland Scrub, is where she met her soulmate, Sweetwater, and she travels there regularly.
