The young tundra stood terrified as he realized the set of premature horns laying infront of him were his own, two perfectly molted dark-brown crests still clattering from their drop to the cave's floor. He raised his head to the giant crystalline structure in front of him, catching a glimpse of his reflection on the closest pillar of quartz. In a moment a new... different pair of horns sprouted, jutting out of his skull and quickly forming iridescent branches, fanning into something reminiscent of a tundras crest. The hatchling doubled over, the forming crown felt like someone just drove two ice-picks right through his skull. It took all his will to keep him from passing out from the pain. The new set of horns were formed in just a few seconds, though the immediate pain lasted much longer, and the resulting migraine would last even longer than that.
The crown was much too big on him, he observed once the agony had dulled to a faint drubbing. Much too big, Much too heavy, and Much too extra.
