RubyMist was found as a newly hatched egg near the SpiralScale Clan Lair by a patrol group. It soon became clear that she possessed gifts in the art of magic and was able to manipulate it to her will. She became noticed by a lot of the other hatchlings and recognised for the ancient markings on her side. Once RubyMist was old enough to speak and understand basic speech, she taught herself a spell to see into her past, where she discovered something she has never shared with another dragon, until she became friends with Onyx.....
The Night which he uncovered her secret is still a very vivid memory to her.
RubyMist was in their cave, not expecting Onyx for another hour or two. She closed her eyes and flared her wings wide, after so long keeping her inner aura at bay, she was fed up, ready to released the power of the Runes.
The markings on her side had lit up with a faint lilac glow, brightening up the cave around her as she transformed to the power of the stars, with only the moon as a witness. She recalled felling her wings merge with her back, legs shortening and strengthening as she shifted into a wolf, still matching her colours. Her keen ears flicked sideways to pick up the faraway sounds, her fur bristling with earth energy, her wings gone and all but forgotten.
That was when she had heard him, Onyx, entering the cave.
She had turned around with a start, seeing him standing, shocked by the entrance, the bouquet of flowers he always brought hanging limp in his front left Talons as he looked at what had been a dragon in front of him.Immediately she had switched back, straight back to normal. She remembered wincing at the pull on her spine and muscles as he wings reappeared, but hid this well when she noticed her mates expression, not horror, but awe, shock. She felt her self relax, a calm coming over her that her mate had not been angry, at least, not that it seemed.
Eventually, things went back to normal, Onyx never seemed to act any different around Ruby and the event seemed to be in the past. Over time, the pair felt the need to move to new lands, explore another clan maybe and get to know other dragons. Onyx and Ruby explained this to th Matriarch of the SpiralScale Clan, who wished them luck and relieved them of their duties.
