xxxxxThe child of a simple caravan, Eana grew up on quiet trails and in raucous markets, never alighting anywhere for long. As a young dragon learning the trade, she could hardly complain - new sights and sounds every couple of weeks, a boisterous traveling family, and a comfortable, if somewhat thrifty life. As she got older however, it became all too easy to notice the sour deals that sent her family running just a little too quickly, to see her siblings pocket a handful of gold to look the other way, to understand why they frequented the towns and clans they did. Eana's still unsure if their caravan had always been in the grayer areas of the business, or if it had been a relatively recent development. Not that it mattered much. xxxxxOnce she noticed, she wanted in. Her family of course delighted in another hand to pull the weight, folding her into the deals and tricks as easy as anything. A quick learner with a sharp eye, she learned, adapted, and grew, quickly becoming one of, if not the, best in the caravan. xxxxxJust in time to watch it all crash and burn. A handful too many deals gone south, a few too many enemies left to follow obvious trails left by careless members of her family. xxxxxShe barely made it out of the ambush one such enemy had set with the few family members that she did. xxxxxHardly one to turn tail, she was forced to escape, her family split up to remain undetected. She found her way to the Fleche rather unintentionally, having bribed her way into another caravan, really only thinking about getting away. She'd had no intentions to stay, looking to hitch onto another caravan on its way out, before falling into a friendship with Imari - literally. Both still hold that it was the other who tripped over them. Either way, it was a fast friendship, only strengthened when they began to work together to build the Market up from its backwater beginnings.

xxxxxA companion of Imari’s from his early days at Mandanu’s side, no one has quite been able to parse Eana’s relationship to the young leader. He is not her Charge, and despite his elder status, her word is viewed as his law. She claims no familial relationship to the Matriarchs and Patriarch, nor does she claim a bond besides that of friendship with Imari. xxxxxDespite the ease of her relationship with their leader however, and the ethereal nature of her status, there is no one in the Fleche willing to question her station. Though Imari claims right of oversight on the Market, having helped build it from its humble beginnings to the extent it is now, everyone knows its Eana who truly pulls the strings these days. As such, when there are problems, feuds, contracts, or any other concern in the market, it is Eana the dragons go to. And it is Eana’s word that is honored. Whether this is through respect or fear is on a dragon by dragon basis. xxxxxThough her envoys are numerous and far spread, always seeking new traders to entice to the market, new wares to trade in, and new beneficial relations to start, Eana herself rarely leaves the Fleche. When she does, she takes with her a retinue worthy of a traveling Queen (though whether this is her wish or Imari’s, with his flair for extravagance, is unknown) - as such, such trips are reserved for diplomatic missions on behalf of Imari and the Fleche, and for establishing new trade relationships with fairly important clans that she feels a simple envoy would be inadequate, or disrespectful, for. xxxxxEana has an almost dual reputation at the Fleche. Seen as fair, refined, and level-headed by some, a fair number can also attest to her cold anger, harshness in the face of disrespect, and sharp tongue where useful. She likes to think of it as the right disposition for the right circumstance. |
