He wasn't permitted to stay once his existence came to light. A thousand stares of judgement for what they'd lost- he felt the guilt in his gut like a lead weight; and despite the pleas of his father, he went of his own free will. No matter what anyone says- he has his honour. He may be a strange being. He may very well be a violation, something that should not exist, but he will not act like a monster.

He left with nothing, and wandered far from his birthplace. Everything seemed to shy for him, their own eyes bright and wary. He kept on and on, until his feet burned and whispers began to ring in his brain, the patterns on his skin flaring and dying like consumed stars. It took until he was half starved to find somewhere he could lie low, somewhere where no one could notice what he was.

He is not ashamed. He is proud of his capabilities, tainted as they are. His magic is the spark of life destroying itself, a blaze of red and black; the ground rips and spews under his command. He is built like a tank, able to take any assault and dish it out in equal measure. He works for those who can pay, and for those who cannot- a tribute to his father. He knows he can never go home, never see those warm eyes again, but can make him proud; even if he is a monster.

origins.

Born of his father trying to save his mother- siphoning off both magic and shade in a desperate attempt to halt the infection and save her life. This clutch was born of that; their father surprised at what exactly he had wrought, but smothering guilt by distracting himself in their upbringing. He brought them up as he has all other children; but warned them of their own sickness, and to be careful of its promise of power.

He's a walking battleground; every ability Shade touched, yet he himself is not plagued by its illness, nor is he a parasite. He can hide it well enough- the only thing he cannot stop is the shifting, changing pattern of his skin that holds the war within.
