Biography

Ruckus, The Indulgent Juggernaut
"I live to serve." She whispered into the brandy.
guyFzki.gif A massive dragon in spite of her youth, incomparable in size to any in the Caravan Kingdom.

The attendant and bodyguard of Her Majesty King Sardonic, who 'rescued' Ruckus from the slums of a seaside fishing village, only to enslave her and cut out her tongue when she was but a child.

Sardonic is her 'charge', her duty as a guardian - bound by magic and blood, they live or die as one.

Her feelings for King Sardonic are... mixed, to say the least - she can't help but have a small sense of gratitude due to King Sardonic saving her from a life of begging and inevitable starvation, but what little there might be is strangled beneath depression and loathing.

Her missing tongue makes it hard for her to articulate anything other than garbles and grunts - not that she has much to say, anyway - Ruckus was always a quiet dragon. The missing tongue just adds more justification to her silence.

The only time Ruckus has a break from her work is when Sardonic and Saccharine turn in for the night - Sardonic would never allow the guards to sleep in or near her private Caravan.

In her off time, there's only two things Ruckus likes to do - wood carving, and drinking. Often, at the same time.
While it's true that she's sometimes drinks on the job, it's also true that no one has ever called her out for it - she manages her work just fine tipsy.

"Here." Said Saccharine, pity consuming him at the sight of the shivering child. "Let me help you up."

He offered his hand to her.

Ruckus locked eyes with him, and all the blame and judgement in the world swelled within them.

"Do you think you're innocent?" She whisper, "If you wanted to help me, why didn't you stop her?"

She lashed out, knocking away his hand.

"Wait, please-!" Saccharine started to say, as Ruckus jumped to her feet, ready to fight him. "For your own sake, don't hit me, I beg you." Saccharine said in a panicked whisper.

Ruckus smashed her manacled wrist into the side of his face, a meaty thud and a rippling clank rang through the air.

Saccharine clutched his cheek as his face darken with bruises like an oncoming storm. Tears stung the corner of his eyes.

"Oh God." He whispered, backing away from her. "Oh God you've done it now. I can't hide this. I'm so sorry."

Sardonic came back into the room at that moment, tailed by Regal. Her animal eyes, normally lidded in boredom, flashed open to survey the catastrophe in front of her.

In the middle of Saccharine's bruise, where the hard metal edge of the manacle hit his cheekbone, a jagged gash trickled blood down his chin.

He couldn't lock eyes with any of them.

"Regal." Sardonic growled. Regal jumped into action even before the command. "Pin her."

Regal did as she bid, forcing Ruckus to the ground.

She knelt, knee pressed firmly into Ruckus' sternum.

A blunt skinning knife was pulled from her waist, as Sardonic carefully pried open her victim's mouth.

In a single slice, she carved out Ruckus' tongue. With ease, as if Sardonic did this every day of her life.
. . .

When Ruckus dwells on the memories of that moment, she realized that the guardian bond was already in effect when that event transpired. Which means Sardonic must've shared in that pain, and yet didn't react in the slightest.

Truly, what a formidable King.

To: My innocence
I left you by the seaside,
you left me by the shore,
we left each other in the mists
and missed the “us” no more.
But “us” is such a tricky thing
to lose upon the waves.
You’re gone, but “we” still echoes on,
and hearts do not behave.
