ALRU-the--ANGEL
⭐️ MORAL ⭐️ SERIOUS ⭐️ KINDHEARTED ⭐️ In the clouds, things are whisper-quiet. It’s the sort of quiet Alru can nearly hear his own thoughts swimming around inside of, the sort of quiet that’s feather-light and warm to the touch, despite the frigid bite of the air. From these clouds, Alru can become one with his duties; he can cast his eyes over the golden seams and veins of his homeland, and serve all those who dare pass through the Hewn City alone—showing them a sign to light their way, or helping their footsteps fall into just the right slots. That is, if they are worthy of an angel’s assistance. Alru had always been proud of his heritage: only few of the Lighbringer’s servants are fortunate enough to call themselves angels, and perhaps just as few have the knowledge these angels exist. Yet his family has upheld these duties since long before Alru was even a flicker in existence. Some angels wear cruel smiles, smite down those they see as unworthy to their land—but Alru decided after watching so many innocent faces blunder in error that he would aid all those he could. So he began to keep watch, every night his parents would let him go out on his own. He could send down messages from the cloud cover, let signs burst into flame or illusion at the flick of a claw. He could form arrows, hints, pathways—help. Wanderers began to pass along stories from ear to scaled ear, saying, “there’s a ghost haunting the City; he’ll show you where to go.” Alru was proud to be their ghost—their helpful ghost, their protector ghost. He began to wonder if there were other lands that dragons trembled at the thought of crossing, and if there were other travelers who needed an angel. And he was right—as he circled beyond his birthright’s domain, he realized it was not just the Sunbeam Ruins riddled with lost souls. There were Tundras trapped in forests stretching infinites, Faes struggling hard against the twists and terrors of the mountains. And so, Alru sent them signs, too; his wings pointed them home. Wherever he may wander next, he seeks out those in need of a little guidance, and if they are deserving of an angel’s magic, he will never turn from the face of a dragon in need. |
