Biography
Strange light bubbled up from the cauldron that a single dragon surrounded. The strange yellow-ish light made it’s claws glint and eyes sparkle with a strange sort of satisfaction as it stared into the brew. “They don’t understand” the dragon muttered to itself “They are the fools and I the mastermind…”
The dragon pulled out a vial of strange green powder and emptied it into the pot and waited. Nothing. “How long must it take for my hard work to pay off.” the dragon growled frustratedly. It shook its head and sighed. “No matter, brewing is a science, and I’ll reap the rewards soon enough.” The dragon stopped and tried to flex it’s dead wing. “It gives wonderful things to us, and we must do the same…”
“Fine.” the dragon muttered as it walked across the cave towards a shelf carved out of one of the walls. “You always want more. Well, the higher the price, the higher the reward.” It reached to the farthest corner of the shelf, and revealed a small flask containing a red, thick liquid. The dragon marched back over to the cauldron and dumped the contents of the vial in. “Here, take it, you ravenous, beautiful beast.”
The pot bubbled over and began to flash radically, the once warm yellow light was now as lightning of the sun. “What now” the dragon said rhythmically “every time something wrong, every time demands of pay. I’ve given you everything!” As the dragon slinked farther and farther away from the cauldron the light became brighter and brighter, cutting like a knife into the darkness of the hidden cave. The dragon screeched as the light ripped through it’s google's and blinded it.
A strange cooing edged away the cold silence. The dragon opened it’s eyes to see the contents of the cauldron spilled out on the floor. As it’s eyes cleared the dragon stared in surprise to see that the brew was… moving. It quickly scrambled to it’s feet and ran to the pile of muck. Wiping away the yellow-ish sloop with golden claws, the dragon was astounded to see a pair of eyes blinking back at him. The brew had transformed into a monster, a beautiful, perfect monster. “Look at me hatchling” the dragon croaked. “You have paid the entrance fee as I have.” the dragon smiled in a twisted grin “Now there is so much for you to learn…”
That is the the alchemist’s explanation of what happened many years ago, but not a soul believes him. Rumors follow that hatchling like shackles. Named Assassin as other dragons believe she is some sort of demon manifested by the brewer’s foul ways, she continues her mentor’s work, desperate to find exactly what the price she paid can get her. Often rivalling the alchemist in the amount of fear she instills, one has to ask - which is worse, the fact, or the stigma around it?
