"Morning Glow"

The People's Prince

Single-Eyed and Single-Minded

Uneducated, But Not Unintelligent

One of Dovre King’s many adopted children, Dhakir is decidedly the least princely among them. He never quite lost the nasal drawl and coarse language of the tunnel gangs he was raised by, and never developed a taste for aristocratic company. He’s known to vanish from the palace for days on end, only to reappear as dirty and hungry as the day he was first brought there. Among the lower classes of Mount Dovre, he is perhaps the most popular of the royal children, if only for his friendly and inelitist nature.

As a child, he ran errands and messages for pennies and biscuits, pickpocketing and stealing to make up the difference and survive. When he was ten years old, he was caught in a cave-in, the cause of which remains unknown. He spent three days under the rubble, losing his left leg and eye in the process. His stubborn refusal to die endeared him to the general populace, as well as the Dovre King, who adopted him as soon as he was deemed well enough to leave the hospital.

While something of a rake in public, in his personal life he is surprisingly studious, spending an absurd amount of money on books, especially those on engineering and astronomy. Considering the prince has proven in public to be a slow and struggling reader, it’s sometimes wondered who he’s really buying them for. Rumor has it he’s been seen mingling with revolutionary sorts during his prolonged absences, but they are, after all, only rumors.
