Since she was a child, Mandi's been fascinated by science and alchemy. She loved experimenting around and well, if it exploded, then it exploded. The brighter the blast the better! She had a whole little library of alchemy books in her corner of the lair, and was always happy to use her knowledge to create magic tricks for the entertainment of hatchlings. Of course parents had no reason to be concerned!

A favourite pastime of hers was scavenging, particularly for bits of metal, gemstones, and minerals she could later use in her experiments. As much as she flaunted her happy-go-lucky attitude, she was very serious about her craft.

Mandi disappeared one day. Just up and vanished. For the first two days, the clan thought nothing of it. Just another scavenging trip, right? Then they sent out search parties that turned up nothing. After two weeks, they gave up having found no sign of her.

The next day, Mandii showed up. She knew everyone by name and walked down to the lab as if she owned the place. Technically, she did. Her bag was laden with various stones and plants and belongings. She claimed they were scavenged. She claimed she'd just gotten lost on the way home and fell into someone else's cauldron. But how could a brew change size and wingspan and colour and genes?

Whenever pressed about it, Mandii would smile and change the subject.

The experiments continued as normal; everything continued as normal.

Mandii was a bit quieter now, a bit more serious, but she waved off concerns. "Falling in kicked me into gear," she'd say, and laugh more loudly for the rest of the day. Though the clan was still suspicious, they found no proof that Mandi wasn't really Mandii. They've come to accept that Mandii's just...a little different now.
