Sutemaru

A simple life with a simple existence. From his birth, Sutemaru carried on as the average dragon would in his village. He often worked from dawn until the wee hours of the night, gazing up at the stars that illuminated the world around him. He was familiar with his surroundings and knew his way around the dense forests and winding paths by the village he lived in. On his days off, he walked those paths aimlessly to keep himself occupied.

One night, Sutemaru witnessed a cosmic phenomenon. A beautiful figure dancing in the moonlight caught his eyes. When Kaguya's eyes locked on to Sutemaru's gaze, she froze. From that moment, they became inseparable. Sutemaru took every opportunity he could to show Kaguya what life was like. Everyday he fell more and more in love with her, as so did she.

However, that would come to an end. Kaguya's visit was short. He couldn't find the strength within himself to let her go. She offered him immortality in exchange that he abandon his life on earth and come with her to the moon. He would have to give up everything he knew, from the chores he did to the people he greeted and befriended. He would watch them all die while he continued to live on. He shuddered the thought and sadly refused.

He and Kaguya climbed the tallest rocky mountain closest to the sky. He held her hand throughout the journey until they reached the mountain top. There he witnessed a cosmic phenomenon. Each star n the sky moved to form a ladder that connected the ground and moon. Kaguya let his hand go solemnly. Sutemaru wiped her tears away and gace her a final farewell. He stood and watched Kaguya ascend and disappear into the night.

From that night on, he would stop whatever he was doing and gaze up at the moon longingly. He called out to his mate and recanted his love for her each night. The times where she would escape to Earth for brief moments couldn't have been long enough for him. Their children reside on earth, traveling all over in search of purpose.
