- Biography
Taking on that Nobody of a skydancer was the last straw, in her eyes.
The esteemed Miss Vi was a real fortune teller, a genuine medium who wished to help people.
She would not spend another moment with a crew of scammers and hypocrites.
She packed up all her belongings - and the wonderfully valuable belongings of her predecessor too, after all, only a real fortune teller needed them, and they would surely not be looking to hire another - and stormed out after giving Cyval a piece of her mind in front of several customers.
The Forest welcomed her on her own, and so she moved into Ever-Autumn the very next day.
She soon set up her own fortune-telling stand, and later moved in with Lux after the two formed a strong - if somewhat strange - bond.
- Excerpt: Entry to The Forest
“Why,” the spiral began, every single misshapen eye on his body rolling in unison. “The hell. Are you back here?”
The coatl glaring up at him - humorously balanced on her hind legs - put her hands on her hips.
“Why do you think, ugly snake-man?”
“We threw you all out yesterday. You were barred from coming back. Do you have a death wish?”
“No,” she shook her head, wagging a finger at him. “No. No. You threw the carnival out. Not me.”
“You are part of that group, I recognize you - “
“I am NOT part of that… that dreck. That rabble. No, I left them! I threw my drink in that man’s face and I said ‘I’m leaving, go bite yourself,’ and do you know why?”
Heron blinked, genuinely bemused. “No…?”
“Because they’re a bunch of PHONIES!” she threw her hands up in the air, and began to pace as she ranted. “Scoundrels and liars, the bunch of them! It was the final straw when they took on that featherscab who was trying to cure people with ARSENIC, honestly! They ruin my BRAND!”
“Your brand.”
“YES! MY BRAND!” she replied, balling her hands into fists and abruptly dropping them to her sides. She turned back to him, posture completely and ridiculously straight. “I’m a REAL fortune teller! A real sensitive! Why would anyone believe that when they’ve come to a place full of rigged games and half-alives?”
“But why did you come here?” Heron sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Because they are banned! I’ll never have to see them again! I’ll never have to deal with them asking for their seer’s spread back!”
“Their what?”
“Seer’s spread! All the attunements and gems and books! Only a real seer deserves those! Like me!”
“They’re yours?”
“They are now!”
“Oh for gods’ sake.”
Heron held his head in his hands for a moment. He genuinely didn’t know what to do. This was too surreal.
He sighed and slowly reached for the sword at his hip. “Listen, lady. I’m not sensing any lies from you, but I really don’t think that the forest needs… whatever it is you’re bringin - “
*THWACK*
An abrupt breeze whipped through the trees, plastering a branch to his face for a few brief moments before petering out. Heron stared at the tree in utter dismay for a few moments before sighing and acknowledging the message.
“Well. The forest has spoken. Follow me and… we’ll get you situated.”
The coatl danced in place, the heavy pack on her back swaying to and fro and clattering loudly with each movement.
“Yes, yes! I knew you would! I saw it, you see! I am Miss Vi, would you like a fortune?”
“No. No I would not,” he replied flatly, turning to lead her toward his town.
“You will change your mind!”
- More Info
Vi was in fact raised by a rather charitable harpy flock, and is still in contact with them. She has several who she calls Mother, and many sisters as well.
