Biography
Charlie, Her Knight
She's my everything. If she hadn't rescued me..
|
Charlie had lost her way from a young age. Stealing, fighting, anything necessary needed to survive. In truth the girl felt nothing at all and each day the darkness in her heart grew more and more. She wasn't far off from being collected by The Enyo when Claira found her. Or rather, she found Claira. In a dark alley. When the woman put a knife against the startled girls throat and demanded money, Claira just smiled with a sad look in her eyes. "You don't have to be this way," she'd whispered, reaching into her pocket to obtain her wallet. "You don't have to be this person. I see so much more in you... You're beautiful." The knife fell from her hand and clattered onto the floor. In all her life Charlie hadn't had a kind word thrown her way, and to hear something like that from a woman she'd killer sooner than smile at shook her to her very core. For the first time, she felt... human... Years passed. Claira had allowed the younger Charlie to stay at her home and study as she saw fit. And Charlie did. Of course, she'd only study because she knew Claira liked that; while the woman slept she would sneak out and train her body. She had to; her life goal had changed in the years she'd spent discovering her human emotions. She would do anything to protect her precious Claira. Anything. A festival had come into town. There was a collection of many foods and rides and Claira had insisted they both visit it. The woman agreed begrudgingly; she'd rather her friend avoid such things... after all, events like this had been where Charlie had been able to get the most robbing in. People with pockets of money wandering around, getting drunk, not noticing their surroundings..? It put her on edge. But as the night went on and she saw Claira laughing and truly enjoying herself. Her guard dropped just for a moment.... Claira was gone. How? She'd just been there. Her eyes shot around the crowd; the fresh night air suddenly felt stiffling. She rushed around, searching for that familiar mop of pink hair and listening for the voice she'd memorized but she couldn't find it. Her heart was pounding. Where had she gone off to? Meanwhile, only shallowly in the woods surrounding the party, a terrified Claira stared down a strange woman. Yes, this nocturne was shrouded in dark religious attire that hooded her face but she could see the crazed green eyes shining from beneath. "Who are you? How... Where are we?" Claira ventured softly. No, she couldn't see kindness in this woman like she'd seen in Charlie. This woman was... she was already far too gone. "The Enyo had picked you. She hungers for your sweet blood; it is my duty to bring you to her." Claira hadn't even been able to take another breath before the nocturne lunged forward. As fate had it, she never came anywhere close. Charlie tackled the creature to the ground, eyes just as wild as the night she first met Claira, a snarl escaping her. The two scrambled and fought viciously; blood spilled on both sides and Claira couldn't tell which was hurt worse. Finally, after what felt like forever, the attacker seemingly vanished into the shadows with a frustrated growl, not to be seen again. Charlie panted heavily, eyes darting around as adrenaline shot through her. Yes... that old familiar feeling of selfish self preservation was pulsing through her again. She was at her brink and Claira knew this. "Stay..." she whispered softly, catching the woman off guard as she suddenly stood in front of her bloodied friend. Her hands cupped the ragged woman's face and softly, distinctly, she planted a warm and passionate kiss. "Please stay with me, Charlie. By my side..." Charlie blinked softly before a flood of tears rushed down her cheeks. Sanity rushed back to her and she held the woman tightly, a tremor running through her as a sob bubbled out of her throat. She was so happy from that kiss. "Yes.." Charlie whispered horsey, a trembling smile on her lips. "I'll always be by your side, my princess..." |
