Retter

Retter showed up with no warning. No great prophecy, no storm, no flood, no plague of locusts. He did not need them, for he was a storm and a plague in himself. Retter simply walked into the lair, claws clicking as his eyes burned red in the subterranean darkness. He seemed to know exactly where Kev was, for Retter went directly to the Mirror's cavern. Those that saw him enter were puzzled, but not worried. Kev was fiercer than any Wildclaw any of them had ever encountered.

It came as a surprise then, that the old loudspeakers crackled to life above the clan's heads and the pleasant voice of Kev was broadcast throughout the lair.

"Hello, everyone! I hope you've been working hard today and smiling at one another! Remember, happiness is contagious! Anyway, I'm here to ask you all to meet me in the Wireworks Cavern in ten minutes sharp! That should be enough time for everyone to get down there. Of course, you don't have to come if you don't want to, but I have some exciting news! Thank you!"


Nine minutes later, the entire clan had assembled in the dimly lit Wireworks. Even Mithril had elected to join the meeting.

Upon the stage that Prophet had built a few months ago stood Kev and the new Wildclaw. Kev, as always, was smiling, and the Wildclaw looked pleased.

He was a strange-looking dragon, with bones hanging from his wings and crowning his head. Around his arms were wrapped bandages through which blood had already soaked. He did not look particularly wise or powerful. He was certainly a Plagueborn though.

A hush fell over the cavern as the Wildclaw stepped fowards.

"Greetings," he purred. "I am Retter. I have come to offer your clan salvation."

His voice echoed through the cavern with ease. No one spoke as everyone looked at one other with a mix of emotions behind their eyes. Set seemed amused; Whisper impatient; Ruvik, Rahm and BoneJangles excited. Barakiel's expression was unreadable, and his mate's face was concealed by a hood. Yue and Saint appeared interested.

Retter observed them all.

"I am sure some of you are confused. These are tumultuous times, after all. The Gods have been silent for far too long, and even your beloved Stormcatcher does not speak to you." He shook his head sadly. "Such a pity. However, there is hope. I believe a change is in order."
