Gusting Goblin
"Experiments are always worth the risk."

His father was one of the first to experience the Bogsneak mutation, a trait he passed along to his son. This left in Gnosis a burning desire to study alchemy to learn more about himself and to see if further mutations were possible.

He met his mate Chrysopoeia while studying under Baldwin, and she convinced him to find a place where the two of them could create a workshop and experiment together. After some travels, they made their way to the island of Prufrock, where they added onto the workshop and laboratory being used by the wildclaw Cyanide.

The laboratory was empty, now. Their friends and fellow alchemists and experimenters had long since departed, and all the alchemical ingredients were safely packed away, ready for travel. Chryso rubbed at a stain on the floor and watched her mate, his head-crests drooping, out of the corner of her eye. "We don't have to leave, you know," she said. "We've taken greater risks."

He sighed and shook his head, shaking himself out of his memories. "We have taken greater risks...and now it's time for others to take them. We've dared to risk, and we've survived. I'd like to survive a little longer. I'd like you to survive and grow old with me," he said, his voice and gaze softening as he looked at his mate. "Wouldn't you like to see your grandchildren? I've a letter from one named Rue. We wouldn't even have to go far...she's in the Starfall Isles."

The coatl flicked her tongue and smiled, her first smile in what felt like ages. "It would be nice to see what legacy we've left in this world other than stains on the floor and puddles of goo," she said. "Let's go visit our granddaughter."

Since leaving Prufrock, Gnosis and Chrysopoeia have retired and moved in with their granddaughter Rue and her mate, Dan.
