Prometheus

Full Name: Prometheus (formally referred to as "The Unspoken One" by his former Clan)

Personality: Prometheus sees himself as a misunderstood individual; he saw himself as trying to free his Clanmates from Lady's oppression and being unfairly cast out for dissenting from an authority. He is a very stubborn and determined Ridgeback, and he rarely gives up once he is tasked to do something. Additionally, Prometheus is an introvert, especially after he was exiled, and acts with hostility or fear when a former Clanmate spots him. Being forced to wander around the Clan's territory has also taken an emotional toll on him, as he longs to be with his Clanmates again and seek forgiveness from both Lady and Saffron. However, his prohibition from entering the Clan's lair prevents him from doing this, and Prometheus is forced to cover up his longing with hostility and anger towards his former Clanmates.

Familiar: Zeus the Searing Jackalope. Zeus is a hot-headed (no pun intended) familiar that acts as both Prometheus's caretaker and his friend. Being one of the very few allies Prometheus has left, the Ridgeback deeply trusts Zeus, and Zeus knows many of Prometheus's secrets as a result. Zeus also acts as a messenger between Prometheus and his former mate, Saffron, and frequently interacts with Saffron's familiar, a Permafrost Impaler named Wendigo.

Reputation: Prometheus is so infamous among his Clanmates that his name is not even mentioned directly, being referred to as "The Unspoken One" instead. Almost all of his Clanmates vilify him to one degree or another, so it is very difficult to find a truly accurate version of Prometheus's backstory. He is also portrayed in nursery stories as some sort of villain or demon, in order to make hatchlings behave.

Backstory: Prometheus was born in the neighboring Infier Clan and lived a peaceful life as a hatchling. When he was old enough, he was sent off to the Sorexian Clan as part of a ritual between the two Clans. There, he met a Guardian named Saffron and fell in love with her; after his stay expired, he refused to go back to his birth Clan and stayed within the Sorexian Clan so he could be with Saffron. After a while, the two became mates, and Prometheus was fully integrated into the Clan's ranks when he became a fisher. However, over time, he grew discontent with how the Clan was run; Prometheus was particularly concerned with how Lady was forcibly using the Entourage to silence dissent in the Clan and how effective that method was. He secretly began a plan to assassinate Lady and to overthrow the Entourage, thus replacing an authoritarian rule with a more democratic one. He planned to make the Sorexian Council the dominant force in the Clan, with no superior authority to oppress his or her Clanmates. Prometheus was almost done concocting his plan when Saffron, a staunch loyalist to Lady, caught him and gave him a severe reprimanding for his actions. Despite promising that she would keep his actions hidden if he erased any trace of the plan, Saffron turned him in to the Entourage, and Prometheus was soon exiled by Lady as a result. Heartbroken and enraged over his mate's betrayal, the two formally separated. As one last "gift" to him before he left, Saffron gave him a hood to conceal his identity, saying that Lady and the Entourage would not hesitate to attack him if they spotted him near the Clan's lair again. Taking Saffron's warning and accepting her gift, Prometheus left the Clan's lair with only his familiar, Zeus. He initially planned to go back to his birth Clan but changed his mind after realizing that the Infier Clan would see him as a traitor and reject him. Currently, Prometheus is a total outcast, longing to seek forgiveness from Lady and Saffron and to be back with his former Clanmates. However, his prohibition from being near the Clan's lair prevents him from doing that anytime soon, but he still occasionally meets with Saffron in secret near the edge of Clan territory.
