Born to Clan Magpie in the realm of the Lightweaver, Rho spent eir time diligently observing the crafts of other dragons in the clan, waiting for the moment ey, too, might discover eir specialty. As time passed, ey became more and more impatient, discovering no skill that caught eir fixation. What ey did discover, however, were the dreams.

Often ey dreamed of grazing for food in their flight's territory, sniffing out the choicest feeding grounds where ey could eat to eir heart's content. Plants had been growing poorly this season, but at least while sleeping ey needed not worry. Upon awakening, ey often thought no more of eir dreams—until one day, a stumbling across the same grounds where ey'd fed in the previous night's dream showed that all the crops in that region—lush just the day before—were withered and inedible.

The next night, ey made certain to memorize the scent trail of eir grazingplace. Retracing eir steps in the morning, ey revisited again last night's feeding grounds, and . . . again, the crops there were withered. Whatever ey consumed in eir dreams did not grow back—but if ey did not consume in-dream, ey awoke ravenous, scarcely able to satiate emself after an entire day of grazing upon the already meager crops.

When ey expressed concern to the dragons in eir region, the baffled others could offer no solution. One more well-traveled being, however, had heard tell of a clan in the leviathan trench that was trained to walk among dreams and, perhaps, could explain the puzzling effects of Rho's dream-eating.

So ey journeyed to the dreamwalkers' clan, seeking others who might understand eir strange abilities. Once ey left, eir former clan's crops no longer declined.
