Illium

Arrenzo originally saw Solstheim when escorting a hatchling fae to her new clan. From the very first site, Arrenzo knew that this coatl was exactly what Clan Kaitos needed. However, Solstheim was very settled and happy with a mate of his own, so Arrenzo decided to seek elsewhere for another coatl like him.

However, as the months passed, the sight stayed with the fae and he was no closer to finding anydragon nearly as striking. He approached the original clan again, this time looking to see if any deals could be made. By this time, Solstheim was looking for something new and the clan were happy to let him go to a new clan to sate his curiosity.

From the moment Solstheim stepped into the clan territory, he was warmly welcomed, especially by the females. Most of the males also treated him well, although there were a few jealous members who could instantly see the competition. Solstheim took this in good humour, and quickly made friends with several of the dragons.

After a little while, Arrenzo approached the coatl again. He was hoping Solstheim would agree to a name change, as he had thought of the perfect name for him, should he accept. However renaming scrolls had been found to come with the risk of wiping all of a dragon's memories, so Arrenzo left the choice up to Solstheim. Ever the risk taker, the coatl agreed and took the scroll to change his true name.

Thankfully, unlike some other dragons in the clan, the newly christened Illium suffered no ill effects from the scroll and could still remember his old clan. The only thing he forgot, as intended, was his old name, which is now no longer used within the clan.

However, Arrenzo could see that Illium still felt something was missing. The fae searched high and low, before finding the coatl's parents, who were currently nesting and looking for a home for the growing hatchlings. Arrenzo awaited the birth eagerly and brought home a beautiful little coatl - Illium's sister. The coatl was overjoyed and named the female himself, taking her on as his own charge.

He was also given an injured young maren to raise - a prize from Arrenzo and Druan's expeditions outside of the clan. Arrenzo hoped to learn more about their enemies in this fashion, and Illium's gentle nature has been making great strides to gaining her trust. He continues to treat her well and learn as much from her as possible, despite Arrenzo's disappearance.

Illium has settled in well in Clan Kaitos and has no desire to leave anytime soon. He has embraced the more relaxed way of life, but he tries to be of use to the clan, along with his sister, Lucia. He still has to put up with the pranks of Reyson and Inigo, but is not fully above getting his own back. He was entirely loyal to Arrenzo, and continues that loyalty with Arrenzo's chosen successor, Bramble.
