He was a boy before his fame

Setanta is the head of those who decided to follow the path of Arcane Combat. It is not a job he looked for, but it is one he does well. When the Clan was first forming, he was there beside Riley and Nadean, Singing his spells into the face of their enemies and around Riley's darting form, flitting behind Nadean's massive wings only to fly back out with a fully charged spell to obliterate the opposition. In one such skirmish, Riley took a bad blow and stumbled into the path of Setanta's spell. Horrified and enraged, Nadean and Setanta destroyed the beastclan skirmishers, and Setanta's meager healing abilities barely kept Riley from death. This drove home the danger of his magic to Setanta, and though neither Riley nor Nadean blamed him, he blamed himself. His lack of knowledge nearly ended a friends life, and had either of them been less trained, Riley would have died.
This led to Setanta learning more of healing, and when the Clan started to grow and he was put in charge of all Arcane Combat dragons, he insisted that they learn basic first aid as well. As such, all ardel clan members, no matter the branch, know at least one healing song, and Setanta's insistence on learning healing led one clan member to become an Arcane Healer. Now, there are two sections of the Combat Arcane, and the leader of both report to him.
When he first joined Riley and Nadean, he did not see himself becoming a Leader, nor did he expect to be a founding member of a Clan that grew as rapidly as this one did. He did not expect to become a role model for hatchlings, the mage that all the Clan looked up to, the premier caster on the head combat squad, but he will do his best and keep his Clan alive.




His Songs are the clarion trumpet call of combat, a ringing peal of sound the strikes down their enemies and reinvigorates allies.
