Raised from youth by Zirondelle, Petra grew up to find her charge awaiting her: to be a watchful guardian of all the dragons that call the Dawnchaser lands home.
Update 1
It's been a while since the Emperor destroyed Dawnchaser's Bluff - her home - but she remains. Her Charge compels her to, for her Charge is the stewardship of the land and its inhabitants.
But at the onset of the Emperor's attack, she sent the clan away to seek safety across the sea.
And it didn't take the Emperor long to ravage the beautiful lands of the Bluff. It's a ruin now, barren and scorched with unhealing magical scars.
But she remains.
Update 2
To be rid of the Charge, to escape the anguish, she must become something else. She had to, or else she'd wither and die here, guardian of an inhospitable wasteland. And so finally she asked Tarrask to find a scroll of transformation...
