Pyrite was sent to the Citadel when he was but a hatchling, barely able to understand what went on around him, and largely confused as to why he was being sent away to live with the denizens of the Citadel. As he grew, it became apparent that he had a natural talent for spellwork and magic, and was quickly turned over to Arana to learn to control his power. Over the course of several years, he honed his skills to a fine edge and is now considered one of Machtvolls best Spell Mages.

Unfortunately, during the attack on the Citadel that cost the clan many lives, Pyrite was badly injured and could not be healed soon enough to save him from some very intense scarring on his face. Somewhat ashamed of his now mangled looks, he donned a mask and headdress to hide his features and maintain a look fierce enough to fit his reputation.

Besides his familiar, he keeps a small herd of cats, often referring to them as his children. He takes very good care of them, and in return they keep him company. He isn't a recluse exactly, but ever since his face was marred, he took to hiding himself away from everyone and keeping even those he's tolerant of at arms length.
