While never one for the rank smell of seaspray and barnacles, Haojean finds himself a Mercenary hired onto many seabound jobs, guarding and escorting and defending shipments, and assisting in loading and unloading said shipments alongside his long-time companion, Hoaquin. For about as long as he can remember, they've been side by side. In everything. At this point, they've become brothers, and even masquerade as twins, in a rather successful gimmick to stick together in their work... Since the beginning. In some ways, they both become entirely different people, but in others, ways really only he can see, neither one of them has changed. At all. Hoaquin is still the incessant flirt he always was, and Haojean has always sighed in dismay and spent much of the night apologizing - be it verbally or not - to the poor recipients of Hoaquin's misplaced affections. Naturally, in every pair there is one who is far more level headed, patient, and calculating, and in his case, Haojean fills these roles exceptionally well. Not that Hoaquin is stupid in any way, but... his impulsive and rash nature tends to get him into trouble, if Haojean isn't there to remind him to think. |

Of course, being a constant companion to a flirtation fiend comes with its downfalls. While never having such a desire for many companions himself, Haojean is frequently pestered for never making a move, never flirting freely with any who show interest in him. In truth, he never really cared about that side of things. All he ever wanted was someone who would listen, who would genuinely care, and... well. His silent wishes were answered in the form of Chrisha. Of course, at first, Hoaquin laughed at him for falling for what he called a "ghost", which she more or less technically was, but, he came around to the idea of having the lovely Dreamwarden around, even going so far as to playfully but harmlessly flirt with her, lightly and respectfully, showing his fondness for her the only way Hoaquin knew how. Which was fine, Haojean didn't mind, as long as she didn't. And it seemed she didn't - in fact, she may very well have been charmed by his playfulness, and accepted him as a brother, pointedly mentioning it once or twice, but eventually growing accustomed to how Hoaquin showed his affections for his brother's love. Haojean, however, can't help but wonder where she goes when she must leave. She tells him of the place, but also tells him he can't visit, and in some ways, it is torturous. To not know her home, her family... But she always comes back, no matter where he is on the globe - she'll always find him. She greets him with affection, quips back at Hoaquin, and travels alongside him once more.  |
