Thrown into the wyrmwound and left there to die by his last mate, Pilcrow somehow managed to claw his way out enough for a passing team from Shadowsong to find him. Perhaps it was luck one of the medics was with them that day. Perhaps not. All he knows is they couldn't - or wouldn't - stop the spread of the infection and disease that ravaged his body. Infections and disease that have marked him as one of the Mother's Own.

They took him in, seeing his 'expulsion' from the Wyrmwound as a gift. As he's recovered, he's learned what true strength is within Shadowsong. It's not only about the physically strongest, though that is often a boon in the harsh lands, but also about the will to survive as much as anything.

Even the weakest of the clan have the will to survive, and Pilcrow stands tall, proud of his gift.
